Bathroom design: constraints

The ideal thing is an opportunity to design the bathroom from scratch. However, we only deal with them when considering houses. The size and layout is usually restricted for apartments and flats. Remember that the pipes determine both the position of the tub, shower and the toilet. While some modifications are possible, but they are expensive and not always possible to make. For example, the distance from the toilet to the main pipe cannot be greater than 1m.

Few words about designing a stairs..

Home designing can take a lot of time, and involves many different aspects. Starting from the beginning of the construction, through administrative and legal formalities and obligations, and the final finish of the given project. The very important, frequently forgotten issue, often to last, is the appropriate and correct preparation of the stairs. Raw concrete stairs not only can disfigure the house, but are also completely impractical. The best raw materials available in the market that allows the stairs to be beautifully finished off, are the natural stones, such as granite or marble. Granite stairs have an advantage over the stairs made from tiles, acrylics or wood, as they are much more durable, and significantly more resistant to impacts. Ceramic tiles are not permanent, and in a busy area such as this it is not at all difficult to drop a heavy object, which in the end will certainly crack the tiles.

When planning an arrangement of the stairs, we mostly consider their aesthetics and price. We certainly reflect and pay attention less, on the durability of the stairs, which is usually a big mistake. Granite stairs might not be the cheapest choice, but certainly in the long term – a worthy expenditure. Granite is a material with an extraordinary durability. This natural stone is highly popular, mainly because of its properties and fantastic attributes - resistance to mechanical or ordinary damage. With proper care of granite and marble (this is not a time-consuming or difficult job and certainly not a job requiring expensive products), we can be sure that our stone staircase will pleasure the eyes of the householders for many years.

Adding some luxury to your home

Since the ancient times, marble has been associated with luxury and wealth. Shiny, smooth surfaces of stone were admired even in the medieval temples and houses of the most prosperous personalities. These days you no longer need to have a prosperous portfolio to be able to afford a granite or marble ornaments and items in your house or apartment. Kitchen worktops are now found in many homes and are not necessarily associated with great wealth, but robust and very good quality, standard and luxury.

Some people think for this type of solution for the kitchen is just a matter of luxury and extravagance. However, such a worktop in the kitchen simply ensures their owners a fantastic look, an easy to clean surface and most importantly, guaranteeing peace for many years as no exchanged worktops will be needed. Granite countertops are resistant moisture, heat and discoloration. The same factors can quickly lead to the complete devastation of another worktops, e.g. when made from wood or laminate.

The stone slab is very difficult to permanently damage, scratch or discolour. This is the most durable material used in interior design and construction. Granite slabs are used in areas that are often occupied (e.g. stairs, reception desks) and even on the facades of buildings, and it is important to notice that their location does not adversely affect their appearance. When deciding on the granite countertops we can have complete confidence that we made the right decision. Purchased materials will look great for many years, whether they are in the kitchen, bathroom or even on the facade of the house.

How many kilowatts are released from wood - important info

The wood provides us all warmth. So we should certainly think about what we put into our fireplaces, and how much truth is in the expectations of the insert manufacturers, in terms of the produced kilowatts. Wood has a specific amount of energy, it is estimated that 1kg of dry wood is equal to about 4kw, whereas for wood pellets, it is around 5kw. 

Only burning dry wood in the fireplace should be used, because only such kind provides us with the required amount of energy, and thus heat.

More importantly, wet, damp or even humid wood can cause permanent damage to the insert, and the humidity condensing within the chimney may cause unpleasant odours within the house. The chimney itself and the surrounding walls will be affected in the long term, even causing damage. This can result even in a loss of the warranty!

Is there anyone who has not even once dreamt about spending an evening with a loved one, sitting next to a cozy fireplace? In today's building market almost every project includes the installation of a fireplace in a living room. The diversity of the fireplace offer is so wide that probably every person interested in having his own fireplace will find something suitable for his needs. 

See yourself how interiors once used to be arranged

In the nineteenth and early twentieth century, the decor of a typical room was supposed to look rich, above all else, yet the empty walls would strongly suggest low wealth. In the average middle-class homes the quality would often be replaced with quantity. The walls would be covered with hung rugs, mirrors, paintings, or old fashioned images. The remaining empty interior spaces would be filled with flowers. In addition, a lot of trinkets and decorative objects would be scattered around the rooms. For example: tables on one leg, amphorae, vases, decorative plates, glass decorations, cups etc.

Without a doubt that the style that prevailed in middle-class houses, was ultimately a style which overwhelmed casual rooms with (sometimes useless) items, but at the time it was surely considered as a rich, or wealthy sign.

Of course now we have a completely different view in terms of interior design and decoration. Currently, if we want to make our rooms seem wealthy, or middle- classed. All it takes is to make it look modern. With new, unique and different designs. Something that will surely impress every visitor. However that doesn’t mean that all traditional designs associate with lack of wealth... the opposite in fact, however, traditional, does not always mean old... Every design should look beautiful, it should feel that it is a new design, despite of being modern or traditional.

It is also important not to overfill interiors with random or useless objects and decors. Yes, it was popular once, but now it just looks unorganised, untidy and somewhat chaotic. Try and keep clear of decorations which may appear to engulf the interior. The main focus should me on the design, the furniture, and colours, rather than useless plastic or metal figurines, doilies and vases.
